Greg decided to take the boot camp because he really feared for his life in prison and thought he could never survive. Also just because he wanted to prove to his best friend and others that he was hard. He made an enemy that would follow him. Also think Greg had a reality check when king was arrested he walked right out. He probably was thinking he should have made better decision then however he didn’t
I agree with his mom she was supported however she suggested he made his bed now he has to lie in it. When Greg arrived at the boot camp he was under the impression that Sergeant Calhoun was racist of his own people and that he was just a bully. Unfortunately, he didn’t realize that Calhoun was just trying to guide them in the right directions. People who look up to you as a hero and really appreciate your hard work. Greg was missing that pat on the back and the feeling of being appreciated. This movie also depicted that not all people are racist and have bad intentions I believe Greg saw this as well. Because his best friend advises him that the racist rednecks and mean to you at this boot so he already had it made up in his mind that he would have to rebel. This part of the movie shows how “Peer Pressure” can change a child’s entire thought process. At the end of the Movies Greg completed his program and had high hopes in becoming a successful part of society. However, in reality it doesn’t always work that way
