Introduction Depression is a disorder that can range from very mild to very severe. Depression can take on many different forms ranging from Major Depression Disorder (MDD) to simple depression from a death of a family member. It can be caused by a combination of environmental, psychological, genetic, and biological factors (National Institution of Mental Health n.d.). Depression leads to suicide if left untreated and undiagnosed. Suicide is an attempt on one’s own life. One of the highest causes of death in the United States is suicide, displayed in a range of ages starting from very young to later in life (Connors, P. G. 2007). Causes of suicide include depression, which makes the two topics so relatable to each other. One generally cannot commit suicide without displaying some degree of depression (National Institution of Mental Health n.d.). Suicide and depression are very serious topics that are not to be taken lightly. The illness can cause much grief for the surrounding friend and family members just because a person couldn’t reach out to get help. Suicide and depression affect many people in the surrounding community and it not a matter to be taken lightly. There are many treatment availabilities to those who suffer from depression, as it can lead to many different undesired outcomes such as death and MDD.
