Substance Abuse And Addictive Behaviors

Substance abuse and addictive behaviors is a scary and sad topic that negatively affects many people. When I was a child my parents never exposed me to drugs or alcohol. They would never use drugs and never drank alcohol around my brothers and myself. I was not familiar with what drugs and alcohol were until my early middle school days when classmates would talk about it at school and from television. Unfortunately my innocent mind was washed and I became more and more exposed to it. Not having close contact with any substance abuser or addicts my first personal bias towards them were that they are selfish, did not care about others and themselves, and was in denial of their addiction.
