Particularly a study done of “18,000 biology, chemistry, and physics students” which brought forth the underlying truth of a gender bias in the science classrooms both of the teachers and the students. The study showed that the “physics students in the survey had the largest bias toward female teachers” but this was not a result of the male students hating on the female teachers, but the result of a majority of the students taking these classes to dislike the female science teachers (Clemson University 1). However, this bias is not something to be overlooked, but something to be factored in, with the understanding of the meaning of the student surveys. Another part to the bias is the fact that all the negativity that surrounds the female teachers in the fields of science can contribute the “negative impact female students and contribute to the loss of women in science” (Clemson university 1). The idea of gender roles is plaguing the science community due in part to the belief of where and what people should be doing based upon their gender. However, this bias is not as big of an effect on the students as it has been shown that the “male and female teachers are equally effective at preparing their students for college” meaning that the affect upon the students is
