It is generally believed that most buildings are constructed with typical materials such as concrete, wood, and steel. It is true because those materials provide structural safety according to the building’s height, size, or usage. In Ontario area, tremendous buildings are located and have been getting high-rise and ecologic. While usual people think in terms of common envelope system of buildings as curtain-wall or concrete, from my perspective, Terrence Donelly Centre in University of Toronto and Earth Rangers Centre have unusual functions with their enclosure systems, with sustainability.

The impressive research building in University of Toronto designed by architectsAlliance with Behnisch Architekten, Stuttgart was constructed in 2005. The high-rise building, taking up 223,270 sq.ft of space, has 13 floors with double skin façade as a landmark of sustainable buildings. This building looks such as two glass boxes connected with columns. On the truth, as shown in figure 1, the whole stories of the building are consisted of glazed windows all sides and the seventh floor has opened space for structural protection as well as machine room.
Through six-story, especially, there is a Bamboo Garden on one side of the building(figure 2 and 5). This garden makes not only green space indoors but also environmental and enjoyable place, with having benches to relax surrounded by bamboo. This place, as…
