The city of Stroudsburg, PA was founded 1799 by Jacob Stroud and his family. There is an estimated population of 6,674 people (determined by the census in 2010). Stroudsburg is located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains, which is Pennsylvania’s biggest tourist attraction. Although there is much to do in Stroudsburg and the surrounding areas, this causes a large gang violence and drug problem.
According to the Pocono Record, within the last week alone there was a major drug trafficking case busted. 5 others have occurred from the month of June through present. Due to it being what locals call “little Brooklyn”, many locals travel to and from New York. As you can see, this causes more options for large city drugs to slip through the cracks.
