Stephanie always fights the teacher before gym time. He threatens to take action such as send her to the principals, but never follow through. Then allows Stephanie to get her way by staying in his classroom and not having to go to gym. He is rewarding the behavior of fighting to go to gym by allowing Stephanie to get her way. Thus reinforcing Stephanie should fight the teacher to get what she wants. Social learning theory also applies to Stephanie and her relationship with her mother. Stephanie's mother claims “she doesn't worry what I say or give me any respect”. This makes sense considering “children are more likely to model a warm responsive adult as well as one who is competent and powerful.” (XXXXX 2015) Stephanie's mother does not seem to show any warmth toward Stephanie, considering when Stephanie is being difficult the mother responds with statement like “I wish I never had her”. This leads to a child not wanting to cooperate with an adults demands. However the mother is frustrated that Stephanie only listens to her father. As a girl Freud believed women had “penis envy and relate to same sex parent because of their desire to be with opposite sex parent” (XXXXX 2015). This explain why when Stephanie saw her mom steal in entices Stephanie to steal as well. It also explains why she seems to get frustrated easily with others. Her mother claims to be “frustrated easily with her (Stephanie)”. Therefore if Stephanie is trying to relate and take on characteristics of the mother she becomes frustrated with her peers easily and hurts them. Stephanie's mom describes how she does not have time to answer all of Stephanie's questions. Stephanie tries to be like her mother and get mad at peers if they talk to long too. Stephanie also overheard her parents cheat on their taxes. Since Stephanie desires her father, the activity her mother and father did together would make her jealous. That is why she cheats on her tests to desire then approval of her father and show him she can do the same activities her mother
