Statement Of Purpose For Masters In Mechanical Engineering

“The machine does not isolate us from the great problems of nature but plunges us more deeply into them.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
I relate to this thought in my quest to find sustainable technologies because the work of an engineer is to “enable the future” not merely to “foresee” it. As a mechanical engineer and a founder & head for a sustainable technology based start-up I realized the importance of technology enabled sustainability for a healthier and superior future and hence the need for Masters in Mechanical Engineering was felt. I believe that the acquisition of knowledge can never be a discrete accomplishment. It is the culmination of continued effort and the prelude to further analyze and

This event ignited my desire to take this experience further. In 8th grade, I was chosen as the captain for the team to represent the school in a similar electric car event. This was the first time I read books on basic mechanics and motion. Ever since then physics and mathematics were my forte. I took up science as my senior secondary major. My newly acquired knowledge in the field of physics, C-programming, mathematics and mechanics during my senior years at school were put to test when I lead the team of six senior school students to design and develop quad-copter for a national level design contest named ‘Silico Battles’. All these experiences encouraged me to pursue higher studies in the field of Mechanical Engineering. After competing in a national level entrance exam followed by a personal interview, I secured a seat in India’s one of the oldest and prestigious government institution ‘Jamia Millia Islamia’, New Delhi which has a highly competitive selection ratio of 1:333. During my freshman year I was involved in projects of an interdisciplinary nature. I lead the team of four fellow students to design and develop mechanical water filtration system based on bone char carbon named ‘Aquasol’. This project was highly appreciated and won more than ten
