Because of its effects, “Stage Crew” is an activity I highly value. Entering a school environment where I was the minority significantly damaged my confidence as a student; therefore I did not interact much with other students. Fed up with these internal conflicts, I convinced myself to spontaneously join my high school’s theater “Stage Crew”. I quickly grew a whimsical admiration for the smell of wood, use of power tools, and felt a rush of accomplishment after building my first staircase. I realized that by accomplishing tasks typically expected a male to succeed, I was able to quickly affirm my confidence.
