Spring Clean Painting Analysis

“Spring Clean” by Tom Powell is the painting that I felt had a lot of meaning to me. When the paper first got mentioned, I went to the Ice House Gallery in Mayfield, Ky. Tom Powell donated this painting just shortly before that to help raise money for the gallery. The subject matter in the piece is a house and in the back yard is a clothes line with four blankets hanging from tree to tree. And in the background is a barn and a wooden fence that is darker than the rest of the painting. This painting stuck out to me because it brought back memories to when I was a lot younger. My mom and grandmother would get together almost every spring and would help each other clean their houses. But now as they have both gotten older and my mom has to work, …show more content…
He used polychromatic throughout the painting, many colors were used and because there were so many colors used he didn’t have pattern or rhythm. It has Afocal point because your eyes don’t look at one thing, their looking at all the different colors and objects the painting has. It didn’t have any negative space, it was all positive. The painting does consist of value because the front of the paint is light but as it moves back, more and more shadows are produced because the sun has not touched them certain parts yet. One point perspective is used, the parallel lines are the house and the clothes line. I believe Tom Powell painted this painting to make people feel warm and comfort, it looks so peaceful and calm. In today’s world, everybody is always in a hurry and this painting reminds me that t doesn’t always have to be that way. It makes me want to take my time and enjoy life because before we know it time has already passed and it’s too late. And the way it looks darker in the back because the sun hasn’t touched it yet, means to me that things will always get better it just takes time for things to get

Another matching element that many miss when initially looking at the painting is the sister’s apron and the curtains are actually the same pattern Lastly, the pitchfork is shown again on the shirt of the man. I also love the contrasting colors of the painting as well. The light colors of the blue sky and green trees pairs perfectly with the dark colors both the man and woman are wearing. “ Anna “Why do you think they are so serious in the painting?” Jesse “I think it’s interesting how the colors the painting almost look faded or muddy, giving the painting almost an eerie feeling of possibly sadness or depression.…

My initial reactions to this painting is how detailed the landscapes are drawn. I am drawn to the prehistoric setting, and how Thomas Cole is able to incorporate various elements such as the rays of light, an erupting volcano, the waterfall over the cliffs, and a lone wolf feeding on the carcass of a deer. In particular, I think the painting evokes sadness and a sense of uncertainty because of the manner in which Adam and Eve are banished from a place of paradise and are now forced to live in a desolate world filled with unknown surprises and dangers. The painting does capture the essence of the event that is described in the Book of Genesis.…

For starters, the first painting was filled with several figures and warm hues. The background was dominantly a light brown wall with shades of blue and green mixed in. There were five figures in this painting; the first is a young girl. She was very pail with a shad of folly in her cheeks and light brown eyes. Her hair was a shade of light golden blonde and a braid at the summit gave the deception of her having a headband on top of her head.…

Kehinde Wiley: A Twist on Urban Culture Kehinde Wiley’s art work gives a twist to urban culture, and highlights a group of people who is usually persecuted for their beliefs, looks and culture. His exhibit at the Toledo Museum of Art left my mind in “aha,” and in fact, inspired me to dig deeper into his works. My intriguing curiosity led me to his website http://kehindewiley.com/about . The streets of Harlem awakened Wiley’s keen eye to the natural-raw form of the brown skinned man; and eventually, took him on a journey to countries such as: Brazil, Jamaica, Haiti, Africa and the Middle East.…

It was painted on a huge canvas that took up the length of an entire wall at the museum. As soon as I saw it, I feel in love with it. It is a very abstract painting that is painted with red, white, and blue paint. Those colors were used to be patriotic. The title of the painting is supposed to represent how it is realistic but also has representational objects with a concrete existence of their own.…

Norman Rockwell is an artist who painted pictures that offered commentaries on society during the Civil Rights time period. He painted this picture entitled The Problem We All Live With. The first thing that catches my eye when I look at this painting is the little girl. She is dressed in all white, from her bow in her hair to the socks and shoes on her feet with notebooks in hand. She sticks out from the neutral colors of the men walking with her and the wall.…

Have you ever wondered why art stood out to you? Why you preferred one piece of art over a different piece of art? Do you know what makes a good piece of art stand out? Before enrolling into Full Sail for my Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design I would not have been able to adequately answer any of these questions. My time at Full Sail has surely been productive and has been an enormous eye opener on how to read into art and what to look for to define each piece of art effectively.…

This was the painting that caught my eye out of all of the rest of the pieces in the exhibit. I personally really love paintings of people rather than objects because one can really pull different emotions and thoughts out of them. That being said, I really liked how natural everything looked; it is almost as if someone had snapped a quick photo in that very moment. In the painting the viewer can reveal the personality from the characters just by looking at their poses; the young woman seeming very confident and flirty in her green dress, while the man on the stool is very content and relaxed. However, the only problem I found with this piece was the colors.…

While attending an art museum called “The Metropolitan” in New York City, I discovered many interesting portraits, sculptures, and much more artwork of all times. One of the portraits that had caught my eye was called Spring Time by Pierre-Auguste Cot. He painted this portrait in 1873 and it was now found at The Metropolitan Museum. The material that was used is called oil on canvas, according to the tag that was placed by this painting. Unfortunately, the size of the painting was not listed on the right side tag of the portrait, but it was a nice big painting.…

The implied visual texture in the painting can be found in the arm of the virgin and in the hair of the virgin. The clothing the virgin is wearing is very textual, but the arm of her clothing is what stands out to viewers. Da Vinci painted the clothing on her arm to look rouged, and when looking at the painting a viewer will look at the virgin’s arm and see how it looks very realistic. The hair of the virgin appears to be very wavy, and looks as if someone would touch it he or she would be able to feel the waves in her hair. The position of a painting is in reference to the method that establishes space in a two-dimensional work by placing objects closer to the viewer lower and objects farther away from the viewer higher in the picture (Adams, 2003).…
