The hot topic “child abuse” has been a long withstanding one that has not been given much attention by all and sundry. Did you know that a report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds? Annually 3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United State. Furthermore, these reports include over 6 million vulnerable children, and such documented reports even includes multiple children. Now imagine the amount of cases that have not been reported, of which there could possibly be a couple hundreds of thousands out there. For these few mentioned statistics on child abuse it is therefore imperative for everyone to treat the topic with much urgency and with the appropriate solutions. Child Abuse is defined by The Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) as “an act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm”. Also, child abuse can be explained as when a parent or caregiver, whether through action or failing to act, causes injury, death, emotional harm or risk of serious harm to a child.
