In the midst of the 2016 Presidential elections, socialism has reemerged as a threat. Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders believes socialism is the answer to America’s issues. Socialism is an interesting topic, and sometimes it can be used effectively. Unfortunately, Sanders wants to use it in a way that will cripple America and remove the title of “World Power”. The cons of socialism outweigh the pros and it will lead America to inevitable doom. Socialism is an interesting concept; one which many other countries have implemented into their government throughout the world. Socialists believe that the economy and society of their countries should be ran more openly while at the same time becoming more isolated with foreign. This would meet public necessities, while also prohibiting the top 1% of citizens from controlling the majority of the money, meaning money will be spread out more equally throughout the society (What is Democratic Socialism? Q&A, n.d.). In the United States, socialism exists as a political party titled, The Socialist Party. The Socialist Party’s ideals include establishing a radical democracy that places people’s lives under the government’s control, and creating a non-racists, classless, feminist, socialist society in which people cooperate at work, at home, and in the community (The Socialist Party, n.d.).
