Have you ever thought of someone before yourself? Smokers do not do this based on the fact that they are harming those around them everytime they “light up.” Smoking is defined as “the cloud of black, gray, or white gases and dust that is produced by burning something” by Merriam-Webster Dictionary. The majority of people do not enjoy inhaling those clouds of smoke given off by others around them. Second-hand smoke negatively impacts a person’s dining experience. Most people do now want breathe it in and smell like the lingering smoke from dining. Although Illinois has made it illegal to smoke in virtually all public places, some states do still allow it. Have you ever enjoyed a walk through the park? Unfortunately there are some places where many people can not enjoy a walk through the park without inhaling a cloud of smoke. There is an easy solution to the problem which has been displayed in states such as Illinois. “The Smoke-Free Illinois Act prohibits smoking in virtually all places and workplaces, including offices, theaters, museums, libraries, educational institutions, schools, commercial establishments, enclosed shopping centers and retail stores, restaurants, bars, private clubs and gaming facilities.(Smoke-free Illinois)” This act became effective on January 1, 2008. Smoking is dangerous, to those working in the places, those trying to enjoy it, and the smokers themselves.
