Have you ever thought of someone before yourself? Smokers do not do this based on the fact that they are harming those around them everytime they “light up.” Smoking is defined as “the cloud of black, gray, or white gases and dust that is produced by burning something” by Merriam-Webster Dictionary. The majority of people do not enjoy inhaling those clouds of smoke given off by others around them. Second-hand smoke negatively impacts a person’s dining experience. Most people do now want breathe it in and smell like the lingering smoke from dining. Although Illinois has made it illegal to smoke in virtually all public places, some states do still allow it. Missouri is a prime example. I and many others have asthma and can not enjoy dinner in St. Louis without becoming physically ill. Illinois has taken steps to protect its residents and guests to the state, as the entire nation should do. Everyone is affected by this problem, and the problem is clearly solvable by states taking action banning public smoking. Smoking should be banned in public places because it is not only dangerous for smokers themselves, but those around them. Have you ever enjoyed a walk through the park? Unfortunately there are some places where many people can not enjoy a walk through the park without inhaling a cloud of smoke.
