We could sort through statistics for hours, but there's an underlying question we need to address: why are moms going through PGD? There are multiple reasons, but the most common is this: some mothers want to have a baby girl. They dream of playing dress up, combing hair, and more with their daughters. Boys, however, don't do any of that stuff. So, mothers who want a girl will spend thousands of dollars on gender selection processes. If they end up with anything less than the perfect daughter, they will be disappointed. Does that sound like good parenting? No. It isn't. Parents should accept their kids for who they are, regardless of gender. Of course, some parents want sons instead of daughters. Those parents usually come from sexist cultures that value men over women. If we let these sexist practices happen, what message are we sending to our daughters? Men and women should be treated equally. In fact, the civil rights act of 1964 outlaws discrimination based on sex. So, that is why gender selection should be illegal. The procedures are a scam, they promotes bad parenting, and are remarkably sexist. When I first heard about this, I thought it was bad, but I didn't really know how bad it was. If you are a parent, or plan on becoming one, do us all a favor. Don't force your child's gender, let nature
