Self-Regulatory-Preservation Theory Paper

When I was a child, I was abused by my father for several years it had a lasting impact on me. I wouldn’t want to explain the details in this format, but I can say, I was five years old when it began, and it lasted for five years. I was traumatized, and I began to look for ways to deal with my reality. Self-Regulatory Preservation Theory of Depression can be used to explain the unhealthy coping mechanisms I turned to. Self-Regulatory-Preservation Theory of Depression is an internal battle between your current state and your ideal state; the depression comes from when the ideal you seek is not possible or very unlikely to happen (Greenburg, 2015). I can apply this theory to my situation. My ideal state and present state were vastly different.
