School President Research Paper

Students swarmed in, but no one knew what to say. Eventually, however, someone approached me: “It was only by four votes.” Was this supposed to make me feel better? My eyes began to water. Feeling ashamed, I shut my eyes and bent my head over my knees to escape reality. What will I amount to if I can't even win my school presidency? My friends tried to comfort me but I did not want consolation. Being ninth and tenth grade representative had brought me so much joy that I felt compelled to run again. President was more than just a position; it was a privilege. I could once again reconnect with those bright smiles of students who were glad that their voices were being heard.
I stepped back into reality; all I could think about was letting everyone

On the first day, I found out that the program had invited a speaker to speak to the students. I was despondent at first, but then I heard him say something about failure. I cringed. At that moment, I knew my conscience would force me to listen. He dropped out of high school when he was sixteen. I was sixteen, and my greatest setback was merely losing an election. However, he said that being able to adapt to circumstances for the better was what changed him, what allowed him to grow. In his case, going from high school dropout to NYU graduate. I was finally awake enough to put myself in the shoes of someone who had far more to overcome than myself. I could no longer spend my time pondering a loss and watching my life zoom past …show more content…
I saw myself thinking about what could have been instead of moving forward. Had I not found the courage to take initiative and find out why I lost, and put myself in the shoes of someone who had more to overcome, I would have loomed down a path filled with regret. I sought immediate change, whether it was studying more or preparing for college applications. This made all the difference, because as a result, I saw that I could progress past an election result. Furthermore, I now understand that in the future I will face obstacles that I will be able to overcome, as long as I find the courage to take initiative and

Voters rigged the ballot boxes and, as expected, the Democrats ended up winning by a large majority. The next day, Alfred Waddell created a Committee of Twenty-five and led its first meeting, during which a series of resolutions collectively known as the White Declaration of Independence were passed. In attempt to develop range in my observation of support groups, I once again found myself returning to an old stomping ground. Throughout my years in high school, I dedicated several hours a week to my local church in a growth group for high school girls. Although I currently experience mixed emotions with religion, I recalled how influential it was during my teenaged years to have such support, convincing me to return to observe a group to identify ways in why it was so helpful for me during difficult moments in my life. Luckily, my previous growth group leader was still leading groups and graciously accepted my request to be a guest that following week. Meeting once a week, the purpose of these groups was to discuss the Bible and life issues, but based on personal experience, these groups offered much more than a few life lectures.…

I unintentionally won a presidential election. Poster boards, a strong speech, campaign cards, and a desire to experience something I’d never experienced before fueled my accidental competitiveness. My one reason for participating was because I thought it’d be a fun thing to experience. Not once did intend or even tease myself with the idea of winning. One of the greatest memories I have to date taught me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things because you lose 100% of the chances you fail to take.…

I honestly can’t believe that it is already the end of my senior year, the end of my high school year, and the end of my PSP membership. After being part of the program for six years, six grueling years crawling towards the end goal of going to somewhere else to have a chance to better myself and my future, it is hard to imagine that my time with the blessed program would be coming to an end. This program changed me, no doubt about it, in ways that I see as positive and placed me in a state brighter than I was in when I was allowed the chance six years ago. When I entered the program, I was in a dark place. Though I was very young at the time, I was engrained with anger and hopelessness.…

Long Suffering My soon-to-be husband and I had a history as we attended the same high school for the short time that I was there. During the courtship, part of my responsibility was driving on date nights and other appointments because his car was usually not working which was unfortunate for a person with mechanical training. He was a nice guy who always volunteered to help and was well-spoken, as well as mild-tempered. As a faithful church member and musician, his hands were blessed.…

His sudden death created an overtone of sadness with a new viewpoint for my friends and me. We began to see ourselves less than invincible, even fallible, not knowing when one of us could die. This was a big wake-up call, as we were only teenagers. To think we were less than immortal was a big deal, and it was certainly a time of personal growth for all of us. We got together and talked as we could during those first two weeks, also my first two weeks as a nineteen-year-old, and theorized about our own personal legacies.…
