Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disease, that affects the person’s normal brain functioning. Schizophrenia is considered to be one of the most disabling out of the major mental illnesses out there. There were 5 different types of schizophrenia that were used before by doctors, but they do not use them anymore due to the factor that they aren’t helpful. People with schizophrenia have a hard time with normal day-to-day functions when it comes to our social life, along with being able to understand others around them. Schizophrenia is a psychosis which can cause the affected person to lose touch with reality and enter into a non-realistic one. In which they wouldn’t be able to know what is real and what is not. While someone is experiencing a psychotic episode, it means that they are acting strange and are currently reacting to whatever they are experiencing, which to those who are in reality would have a hard time understanding. They tend to interpret reality differently than most people, which then causes them to act oddly or out of what would be considered normal. Often schizophrenia can leave them withdrawn from people and frightened due to what their symptoms are. “Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behavior.” said in an article from Mayo Clinic.
