Common Core State Standards Speech

The United States Common Core State Standards (CCSS) is a Titanic-deck-chair exercise, they’re set up for national standardized tests, tests that can not evaluate complex thought, show you the “holes” in your knowledge, can’t measure non-verbal learning, and can’t predict anything of consequence. There have been many people speaking against CCSS, but one who stands out in particular is Sal Khan, the founder of Khan Academy. He gave a very strong speech about how by testing for scores, and not mastery, children accumulate great gaps in their knowledge. Khan shows great usage of rhetoric to make listeners truly know the problems of the modern education. Sal Khan’s utilization of ethos, logos, repetition, opposing views, kairos, and exigence, is what constructs his speech into a rhetorically effective, as well as a powerful and inspiring argument.
Sal Khan is the founder of Khan Academy, a mastery based learning idea. He also is well known and introduces the idea that his observations would only help further the arguments he is presenting during this speech. Many people at this speech most likely already know who Sal Khan is, meaning they would be aware of the fact that he holds three degrees from MIT and an MBA from Harvard (Khan Academy), as well as the founder of

Khan uses rhetorical questions constantly to help further his point and truly make the audience think about what is going on, for example Khan starts asking many questions saying “Is it just going to be that very top of the pyramid, in which case, what does everyone else do? How do they operate? Or do we do something that 's more aspirational?” thus, making the reader truly think about the scenario he posing.
