Mariah Kauffman
Start of Integration? - Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was an African American Civil Rights Activist, who the U.S Congress called "The First Lady of Civil Rights" and "The Mother of the Freedom Movement". She was born on February 4, 1913. She died October 24, 2005.

On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks got on a bus to go home from work. She sat behind the 10 reserved seats for white folk. A white man insisted she give up her seat so he could sit, and she refused. That day, she took a step forward to freedom and equality. She was an active member of the local NAACP. She was known for the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
