Ruby Bridges and Rosa Parks are great civil rights leaders. They were also effective in the civil rights movements. In 2014 a statue of Ruby Bridges was planted outside of William Frantz School. Ruby Bridges was one of the greatest civil rights leaders. She was born on September 8, 1954, in Tylertown Mississippi. Ruby Bridges was the oldest of Abon and Lucille Bridges. When Ms. Bridges was 4 years old her family moved to New Orleans. In 1960 Ms. Bridges was sent to William Frantz School as one of the first African-American students to enter a public school. Ruby Bridges had to be escorted by four policemen to stay safe from angry mobs of people.(1) Raging and frustrated parents did not want their children to be in the same school as an African-American. The outraged parents yelled and threatened Ruby Bridges. Ruby Bridges did not have an easy life because of angry people and segregation.

Rosa Parks was also one of the greatest civil rights leaders. The Montgomery Bus boycott was led by Martin Luther King Jr. The boycott insisted that African-Americans not ride the bus. On October 1, 1955, Rosa Parks was riding a segregated bus at that time. When sitting down a white man confronted Mrs. Parks. The white man told Mrs. Parks to get out but she did not budge. Eventually somebody called the cops. Rosa Parks was then fined and also put in jail.(2) Rosa Parks had a tough time on the Montgomery Bus.
