Public health is unique in that it serves to stop disease from occurring hopefully before any significant harm is done. In the end, this technique is useful in that it does not require the trouble that comes with curing or contracting disease and it tempers health care costs. Public health influences people’s lives in a variety was ways. In some instances, public health plays a hand in making the environment healthier for the populace. A specific example would be about the tobacco-free and smoke-free policies that prohibits any kind of smoking on the CSULB campus and the classes that aid smokers in their quest for cessation. In addition, public health influences public housing standards that address safety and public health issues like asbestos in lead paints. Another example is how public health professionals track down mosquito infested area and reduce the larvae count by working with the local Health departments.
