The norm for a typical shift with Rickey is chaotic. I wanted to see who was going to get arrested that day, or who was going to get their car keyed, because these are things that have happened before. I expected the kitchen to be slow, Rickey to be drunk, and it to be busier than the employees on that shift could handle. This was where I made an error in judgement. That turned out to be one of the smoothest shifts I worked with Rickey and any other manager in the last year. The staff actually used teamwork and assisted one another. Rickey was easy to find when a mistake was made. He wasn’t playing inappropiate music and drinking. I truly enjoyed the shift and if I had only stopped making assumptions, avoiding those involved, and just listening I would have been able to see the potential that Rickey has as a manager. I feel that it is important to not only apply this to work, but to all areas of life. It promotes emotional intelligence and allows you to build better
