Scene: Revolutionary United Front (RUF) exploited and killed the innocent Sierra Leone villagers
Briefly describe how the issue was portrayed.
In the Blood Diamond movie, the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) used the illegal ways to sell the diamonds for purchase its military operations. Revolutionary United Front (RUF) is very cruel to the villagers in Sierra Leone which treat them merciless in order to diamond panning for the purpose to exchange of arms and weapons. The Revolutionary United Front (RUF) had also kidnapped the young kids and trains them to become the child soldiers. They brainwash the young kids to be joining as member of them with the promised of they will protected under the RUF. The villagers in Sierra Leone had live in turmoil.
The issue was portrayed when the Solomon Vandy having a good time with his son, Dia Vandy. Dia is only a twelve years old student. When they are on the way of going home, they talked happily with each other. Solomon believed Dia can be a doctor in the future. Suddenly, a riot happened in their village. The Revolutionary United Front (RUF) used the guns to shoot the villagers whoever that wants to flee or resist. The RUF had force the villagers of Sierra Leone to pan the diamonds for them. One of the villagers had steal a diamond and hided in his mouth but unluckily it was found by the Captain Poison. Captain Poison was asking him to give back the diamond. When that villager had returned the diamond, Captain Poison pointed his gun towards the villager and killed him in front of Solomon Vandy. Every villager was threatens by the RUF. But they cannot resist any of it. They were also forced to vote for RUF in the election. Some villagers’ right hand had been cut by RUF to not allow voting to the government of Sierra Leone. One day, Solomon Vandy found a diamond which was in bird’s egg size and pink in colour. He secretly hided the pink diamond on his toes and cheat the rebel that his stomach is not feeling well and has to go for defecate. When he goes away to a place after he checked there was no anyone around there, he took out the pink diamond from his toes

Utilitarianism Utilitarianism principles support the idea that decisions must be based on what will benefit the largest number of people. Each person’s actions are added to the overall utility of the community impacted by those actions. Utilitarianism is focus on the net result of their actions instead of the means or motives that generated the reason for their actions. It is doing by intrinsic rewards which the personal satisfaction from benefiting others. For example, charity is one type of the utilitarianism. It is because the government of Sierra Leone believed that the action was acting the best interest to the large number of people.
