Research is carried out into a particular issue, and decisions are made about how changes could be implemented in order to fill these gaps and ensure that the needs of the particular group are adequately met, (Talman, 2010). An example of research to inform policy or practice can be underprivileged children in deprived areas of Britain, as they have more of a risk of suffering from respiratory diseases. Research is carried out on this issue and it has found out that underprivileged children in deprived areas of Britain are more likely to suffer from respiratory diseases. Decisions are then made on how to ensure that the needs of the children are up to standards and are met. This could be by improving housing qualities or opening up more health clinics in order to treat the respiratory problems the children are having.
