Due to Robert’s polish decent, he was not able to speak proper English so when the officers approached him at the scene he refused to follow the directions, which resulted constable Benjamin Robinson to trigger the taser to Robert. Before 2006 police recruits were required to train in the proper use of conducted energy devices to all the members. After 2006 the Vancouver police academy decided that they did not want all of the recruits trained. This has resulted in lack of knowledge of the device. Without the training how are officers supposed to know how long it takes for taser to cause death or other serious injuries .The proper training will provide officers the health risks that this device may cause an individual, also the correct way to use the device which will decrease the risk of accidental death. Additionally training helps in conducting research on ways to use the device in a proper manner and ways to prevent accidents. Proper training may prevent these accidental deaths and serious injuries. The training provides information towards how long it may take for a taser to kill someone and also where to use the device correctly where harm is less likely to
