This course is the finale of my studies to obtain my associates degree. I have completed several courses that involved formal writing and I feel this class was the ideal conclusion to the first part of my educational journey. As I reflected on the past eight weeks, I would describe this Cornerstone Seminar as very educational and a little bit overwhelming. I have attached my digital portfolio which contains six documents from the discussion board and assignments throughout this course.
This is my first class using discussion boards and at first I was intimidated by the idea of conversing with my classmates. At first I was skeptical of Gladwell’s claim but once I reflected on my career and evaluated this rule, I was amazed of how it was an exact a mirror image of my career. Another is the critical analysis essay, in which the class was to analyze Gladwell’s claims in “The Trouble with Geniuses, Part I & II”. They were fascinating chapters regarding the relationship between success and intelligence. For twelve years I ran a family daycare and cared for children from many different backgrounds. The different parenting styles as they were children and the success of each now as young adults is a notable resemblance of Gladwell’s claim.
Throughout the course we researched and finalized our research papers. This research was extremely interesting to me because of a recent employee survey conducted at my place of employment. Although my facility ranked the highest in employee satisfaction than our sister hospitals, I wanted to complete my paper on employee empowerment.
