In chapters “the Trouble with Geniuses Part I & II” of Outliers Gladwell presents his thought-provoking research about geniuses to substantiate his argument that “extraordinary achievement is less about talent than it is about opportunity” (Gladwell 78). Gladwell argues that opportunity, hardworking and culture are all factors in the recipe for success.

90). I had the opportunity to interview a gentleman in his mid-twenties for a position within my department. He recently received a bachelor degree in computer science, and was looking for an opportunity to advance his career in the health care organization. I was truly amazed after learning that the applicant assumed that he was fully qualified for the position and would easily be given the position. After a brief awkward introduction, it was obvious that the gentlemen did not have the interpersonal skills and knowledge for this position. I quickly wanted to do what I could to help the gentlemen. I immediately wanted to do my part to help him succeed, genius or not. I focused the rest of our conversation on reviewing his resume pointing out where his skill sets, experiences, and qualities relate to the job description of the position he was applying for. The majority of our interview was changed to discussion about his career interests and advancement opportunities. He was clearly enlightened and very grateful that someone took the time to help guide him in his career. After our conversation the gentlemen seemed was enthusiastic about other opportunities that focus on his strengths and particular area of
