The first thing I noticed during the performance was the lighting. The entire auditorium was dark except for a spotlight on the stage and creepy music started to play. Next, I noticed all of the dancers wearing black, non-restrictive clothing. Cellphones were the only prop used during this performance. The stage was bear except for the dancers. I came to this conclusion due to the costumes, the moves used, and the music. This modern dance piece was easy to relate to. According to our reading, “Many people would agree that one of the primary reasons that choreographers create a work is because they want to communicate something to their audience.” The choreographer intended for the crowd to link the use of the cellphones with the content of the dance. As I watched the dance, I started to grasp what was being communicated and related the moves to social media. The lead dancer being a person of popularity on social media and the other dancers represented her followers. Her every move was followed and sometimes imitated.
