4. Early peer relationships have a big impact on a child’s future social skills and behaviors. The child learns to accept other people early and they also gain some skills in how to behave. A child who is able to get along with others early on and have quality interactions is most likely to be able to socialize later in life. Middle childhood relations provide a more deeper understanding of friendship. It also opens the doors for the child to start having negative influences from their peers. The friendships are more intimate and trust is developed and matured. Moving to a new geographical region would have an impact on the child, no matter the age. A change in environment would affect a child because the child would have to adapt to an environment that they aren’t used to. They would have to change their routine and develop …show more content…
Some believe the development of the native and target languages at the same time will cause cognitive delays. This is based on the underlying idea that the simultaneous development of two languages, or bilingualism in general, creates cognitive confusion because the child will have to constantly differentiate between two languages. Others, however, argue that the belief of cognitive confusion and delay is just a misunderstanding. Research has shown that bilingual and multilingual students display far more cognitive advantages than monolingual students, once the child’s mind is well developed.(Brisk,1998). I believe that bilingual education is good for students, especially if it’s started when they are young. In the lecture slides, we discussed that younger children learn languages more easily than adults.
