The applauding behavior of today’s youth has reached epidemic proportions. Their lack of self-respect is reflected in not only by the way they dress, it’s also shown by the way they treat others. Aggressive behavior is shown throughout social media, music and everyday life. Entertainment today contributes to the fact that today’s youth are vulgar, rude, and rebellious and disrespect authority. Parents trying to be friends with their children, instead of being parents is a huge contributing factor. Lack of strong parenting skills add to the cause of this belligerent behavior. Therefore, in writing, I shall endeavor to find the answer using both pros and cons of the subject.

By presenting themselves as sloppy and careless, their behavior also reflects the same character. They have no regards to the feelings of others, they have no self-respect, and therefore, no respect is shown to their parents, teachers or anyone else. Furthermore, the word respect, applies to one’s property. Our private property, destroyed by stealing and disgraceful slang painted on our walls and fences. This shows destructive behavior. “Teens and young adults that destroy property as a pattern of violating the rights of others (breaking the law) move beyond Oppositional Defiant Disorder into what’s called Conduct Disorder.” (Abraham) Consequently, do the youth of today respect others personal property, absolutely no. Based on the fact their thinking ability is grounded, the satisfaction of the moment is all they consider. They see no further than the end of their nose.
