How can we prevent this from happening? What can we as a student’s help this problem be solved? We can inform people type of warning signs, there is to being in an abusive relationship. Sexual harassment is a problem and needs to be stopped from happening. Prevention efforts should ultimately decrease the number of individuals who perpetrate Sexual violence. For example, many states received a letter grade for having laws that would be useful and non-useful for victims. States like Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, and North Carolina, Ohio And etc. did not meet the requirement and received a letter grade of “F”. Characteristics of an abuser can identify in many ways, for example they can abuse the alcohol or other drug abuse, have difficulty expressing its feelings, becomes easily angered, and can be protective of dating partner to the point of controlling that person. A characteristic of victims is a person who is cheated or fooled by someone else. For example, my friend Santiago always loses his temper because he sees his girlfriend speaking to other boys. Teachers feel uncomfortable speaking to student about dating violence they rather talk about bullies than the danger of abuse.
Jan Brogan in the article, when Teen dating turns dating turns dangerous, argues that teen that have been victims of dating violence or sexual harassed can last into their adulthood. Brogan supports his argument by suggesting females and male can create health issues. “Earlier research had shown that dating violence against teenage girls and boys was associated with increased risk of eating disorders, substance abuse, sexual promiscuity, pregnancy, anti-social, and attempted suicide.” The author’s purpose is to inform the reader what we as a student can do to stop this situation in order to stop this we need to convince family
