Poverty is a controversial issue all around the world that is being overlooked by and not taken seriously. Poverty effects people who have low income, are unemployed, and people who lives in areas that are not supported by the government. An important factor of poverty that effects people’s lives is their health. Poverty is linked to having poor health because of the resources that the people cannot obtain. The economic and social resources are a lot more difficult to receive in areas that are in poverty because of money. Which, causes people in poverty with poor health to have malnutrition and are more prone to diseases. Also, the living conditions in poverty are horrible and very unsanitary. So, this can increase the chance of their death and how long they are going live. People who lives in poverty areas are living in poor living conditions and have a higher risk of diseases and malnutrition. The health of people living in poverty is an issue all around the world. Countries like Africa, India, South America, and Jamaica are all affected by poverty. The percentage of people living in poverty in Africa is about forty-eight percent out of the whole population. This is significant because that is about half of the population living in areas that have very low to no resources. India has about twenty-two percent rate of people living in poverty and South America has about thirty-eight percent, and Jamaica’s percentage is about twenty-eight (Filmer, 2008).
