Policymakers are becoming increasingly thought of as a meaningless, yet necessary evils. Apathy is festering on one hand, while a totally obstructive agenda fuels the most ardent supporters of the combative ideologies.
Americans are either becoming increasingly disenchanted with the political process, or drifting far to the right or the left. The healing remedy for this precarious divide needs to start at the source. Too often, both political parties stomp on viable policy or recommendations out of some misguided sense of dedication to their base constituency.
It seems people with a vested interest in policy speak only to those who they think want to hear what they have to say. The more neutral, middle-of-the-road political belief systems are being ignored. To help heal this divide, people would do well to pay more homage to those who adhere to a more independent political stance.
Healing the gapping and ever-growing political divide in America must begin with a healthy conversational exchange. Our political system is based on discussion and debate. However, when those discussions drift towards radical, unwavering arguments, the chances of healing this division
