Plato’s life consisted of three different periods; the early years, middle era and later years. Most of his work detailed methods on asking questions and exploring concepts in philosophy and other subjects. Plato’s theories and concepts theorize that any subject will hold a uniform constant. Plato believed that all subjects must have some type of guideline or uniformed code to follow. These guidelines used inductive reasoning to find a solution. Inductive reasoning gathers data first before coming to a conclusion.
On the other hand Aristotle’s wanted to use deductive reasoning. Aristotle wanted to take each subject and use a hypothesis and prove the theory. By using deductive reasoning he could use many hypotheses and weed out a conclusion. Once a hypothesis proved wrong, it could be eliminated and a new theory could be explored. Plato came to the conclusion that the human psyche could be broken down into three different aspects that are linked to three classes. Let’s examine each one to get a better grasp on each concept. The first one is appetitive, which is linked to the worker class. The second is the animal side: (the spirited side) aspect which is linked to the soldier’s class. The third one is rational aspect and which is linked to the ruler aspect.
Aristotle had a similar view on the psyche, but he came to a conclusion; that it had only two parts and they are broken down into the Animal needs or biological need. The second is called active mind and he concluded that imagination was a combination of life’s observations linked to all of the five senses to view the world.
So in conclusion, we can say that every scholar knows that both Plato and Aristotle contributed momentously too many different subjects. They had many of the same views, but a different perception of the subject. They both have contributed greatly to the advancement of society. Their controversial views are still debated still till this day. They have tried to examine the human psyche in great detail and tried to understand human nature. Will we ever understand their genius to make the world enlightened? Could the human race understand their visions of grandeur? I think one day we all can be a little more
