Comparing Piaget And Vygotsky's Assumptions

Piaget’s-development proceeds learning. Highly individualistic (minimize roles of parents, teachers whatever.) is guided by assumptions of how learner interact with their environment and how they integrate new knowledge and information into existing knowledge. Assumptions: children are active learners, they learn through assimilation and accommodation, interaction with physical and social environment is key and development is key.
Vygotsky- Cognitive development: tools of your culture, interactions with others, learning precedes development. Important assumptions: Children preform difficult tasks with the help of a more advanced individual, challenging tasks promote cognitive development, play is important.
Same- similarity between Paiget and Vygotsky is their thoughts on how we learn. Piaget believes that children learn through active learning. This means that the child must

Vygotsky believed that learning precedes development. This means that we have to learn about our culture and interactions before we develop into functioning people. Piaget instead believed that development proceeds learning. This means that the child must develop how to interaction with the object then learn what the uses of the objects are.
Different- A second difference between Paiget and Vygotsky is their thoughts on how we learn through interactions. Vygotsky believes that we co-construct knowledge through our interactions with others. Piaget counteracts by saying that we construct knowledge on our own experiences, not shared ones.
-Housing- The parents may not be able to afford a place in a suburban and will settle for where it is cheapest. These houses may not be in the safest part of the area and so the child may spend most of their time inside.
