Martin Luther King Jr. and many others did a lot for segregation. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done. Many people have tried to stop segregation, but it is just to difficult. Abraham Lincoln once said, “This is a world of compensations; and he who would be no slave, must consent to have no slave.” As we can see, Abraham Lincoln tried to stop segregation. Slavery was one of the first forms of segregation. Slavery started back about five hundred years ago, and still exists today. There was a war that was fought to try and stop segregation and slavery. There were many Black male leaders that stood up for their Black community. The American Civil War was especially fought because of freedom. The argument was if people should be allowed to own slaves. Abraham Lincoln wrote a document called the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. This document stated that everyone was going to be free, and their would be no segregation and slavery. Most people think that segregation is just there, but most people do not know that it can be by choice. A popular man in Alabama once said. Back in the days there used to be white only signs. These signs were placed on bathrooms, water fountains, and restaurants. Studies have shown that most Blacks and Latinos are friends with their own race. People have said that segregation can affect the way the act. Segregation can lead people to become depressed. Many people do not want themselves to be seen as racist, so they often will try to hide it. Talking about all the Blacks or Latinos in jail is easier than talking about the last time you have made fun of someone that is not your race.
