The EpiPens price has increased to be more than six times what the price was in 2009 all the way to $608. This price hike has consumers questioning if their well-being is something that is being sacrificed for increased profits. However, despite these thoughts the CEO of EpiPen stands her ground by saying the company only makes a profit of roughly $100 every two pack sold. EpiPen continues to look for solutions to make the product affordable through rebates and an introduction of a generic version at a $300 price point. However despite the efforts people are calling for change and pressure is being put on the Obama Administration to act.
I believe what is happening with the EpiPen is extremely unfortunate. This issue is very unsettling and is something that I believe needs to change. I think that a product that could mean the difference between life and death for many people should be affordable for all. Things from what I believe will only continue to spiral out of control if nothing changes.
