Personal Narrative: My Life After High School

A dilemma that I faced, and still am facing is simply the decision about what I want to do with my life after my high school career. In my freshman year of high school my goal was simply to get through the year in one piece. I was forced to conform to my new environment and all the strict rules that came along with it. Along with that it was the sudden transition from being the "big dogs" as eighth graders at my middle school to being "fresh-meat" in my first year high school. With so much attention placed on me as a freshman like on the varsity basketball team, where I was constantly forced to prove my worth to the coach and the players, to stepping out of my comfort zone and performing in a mandatory play for the rest of the the school as …show more content…
Free from all the extra attention and scrutiny from teachers, who did all they could to mold the freshman class into proper "Vincentians", I felt as though I could finally relax and have a regular high school career. It was a slow paced year where pressures such as ACT and SAT preparation, applying for colleges, and deciding your career path seemed so far away. As long as I remember, I have been on a never ending journey of discovering my talents and finding a career that would be most suitable for me to contribute to society. I was convinced that If just lived life the way I was supposed to and fulfilled my responsibilities, that it all would just come to me one day. Because of my assumption of how much time I had to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, I found myself putting these important thoughts on a hiatus. Despite how slow the days seemed to pass, I finally realized how close I was to my junior year when my teachers announced a meeting for my junior ring ceremony.
