I often ask myself what I am going to be doing after high school. A lot of questions and thoughts run through my head. She started out at Mesa Community College and took classes to transfer to Arizona State University (ASU), and graduated from ASU in 2010 and got her Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences. After that, she decided she wanted to go to nursing school, so she took her prerequisite classes at Chandler/Gilbert Community College. LeAnne then enrolled at Brookline College. She graduated in 2015 from Brookline College with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. 2) How did you pay for college? LeAnne payed for her college through the Hopi Tribe Grants and Scholarships. Her job has grants for students and helped her tremendously every semester. “I also took out loans to help pay for the rest of my tuition. It wasn’t the most ideal situation but I wanted what I wanted,” she said. 3) How is college different from high school? In her years high school was different from how it is now. She had teachers that knew her and teachers that helped her a lot. The transition from High School can often times be very frustrating for students. L. Lennie Irvin opened my eyes to one of the bad habits I picked up on in High school. The habit of straying from the topic or theme could cause me to fail not only papers in English but my other courses as well. I personally had a hard time with English my first semester of college. In High school I was always at the top of my class and my teachers would tell me how great of a writer I was.…

It was December of my senior year of high school, and college application deadlines were approaching quickly. In the following months, my recovery progressed rapidly.…

Growing up I was always the tallest kid in the class. Whenever class picture day rolled around, I knew that I was in the front of the line because of my height. It was somewhat embarrassing when all the boys were shorter than I, and the girls made me feel bad for how out of place I was. Not only did my height provide social awkwardness, it also administered the constant, never ending struggle of finding garments long enough. Whenever my mom or grandmothers wanted to take me back to school shopping, I made excuses of “I don’t need any more habiliments” or “I do not feel good, all of the sudden…”…

Free from all the extra attention and scrutiny from teachers, who did all they could to mold the freshman class into proper "Vincentians", I felt as though I could finally relax and have a regular high school career. It was a slow paced year where pressures such as ACT and SAT preparation, applying for colleges, and deciding your career path seemed so far away. As long as I remember, I have been on a never ending journey of discovering my talents and finding a career that would be most suitable for me to contribute to society. I was convinced that If just lived life the way I was supposed to and fulfilled my responsibilities, that it all would just come to me one day. Because of my assumption of how much time I had to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, I found myself putting these important thoughts on a hiatus.…

My first semester of college has been an intersting learning experience. It has been full of ups and downs. I’ve learned a lot since being in college, mostly how to take charge of my life and get my priorities straight. I learned that being successful in college depends on how you prioritize your work and how serious you take it.
