Duty-based ethics is centered around the responsibilities of the corporation and can often be found outlined in a corporation’s core standards and policies. Ethical principles developed with religious context are absolute, think the 10 commandments. They can create a unifying workplace, but in certain situations, particularly those addressing social or political happenings you will often find negative feedback and acts of protest. Principles of rights, sometimes referred to as the “right theory” is the idea that the key factor in determining that a decision is ethical is based on how it is going to affect the rights of others. Following the five steps of the Business Process Pragmatism. The first step is understanding what the specific problem is, collecting the facts and understanding what parties are involved. The problem here is deciding whether to accept the offer and pay the bribe. The facts are outlined in the case file and Mason knows what is at stake for his client and the company, ACME.
