Rohe et al. (2006) conducted a cohort, non-randomized experiment to objectively measure the effect of a pass-fail grading system on stress, mood, group cohesion, and test anxiety in medical students. Experiment was carried out at Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota, which involved all Mayo Medical School students in the graduating classes of 2005 and 2006. Using Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), 16 Profile of Mood States (POMS), 17 Perceived Cohesion Scale (PCS), 18 and Test Attitude Inventory (TAI) to assess the outcome, results showed students graded with the pass-fail system had less perceived stress (P=.01) and greater group cohesion (P=.02) at the end of their second year of coursework than their 5-interval graded peers (Rohe et
