As long as the Earth has existed, species of animals have developed and died out in a process commonly known as natural selection. As today’s archaeologists build on the studies of their predecessors, more extinct species are being discovered, while at the same time, emphasis is being focused on protecting animals currently on the endangered species list: a scientifically vetted system that evaluates populations of animals and their surrounding habitats, lifestyle, and many other factors. Local, domestic, and international efforts have aided in the protection of endangered species, with some animals benefiting in a more public fashion.
Giant pandas have become one of the faces of endangered animals due to people finding them visually appealing.
