The author argues that the only possiblity is that those baskets are not original from Palean. However, one might wonder if Palean people had the ability to trade with other tribes and selling and buying objects was the way taht the woven baskets used to arrive to this new place. Furthermore, a trade route between these two places is not completely necessary because it is not clear whether these two tribes had relationship. For instance, is it possible that Palean people and habitants in Lithon are just a unique village, which expands across the river? or did they live as type of feudal Kingdom where people in other land have the same king or master? It can be the case that woven baskets are unique of all Palean and even Lithos was part of the same Kingdom. At the same time, the author suggets that not finidng boats is one of the key reasons to believe that crossing the rive was impossible. Does it exist a directly correlation? Did Palean people suffer from natural disasters, espeacially fires? Old civilization usually suffered from fires due to the high number of buildings made in wood and a simple light could create a massive fire, which could destroy boats as well. It would be necessary to follow completely the logic of the passage to understand what is the conditions of other buldings such as houses and public places to realize that it is true that they could never thought in creating boats with a river in one side.
Clearly, more evidence is needed to addressed the question about the origin of the woven baskets found outside Palean. It is not clear whether the river was always as harmful as it is today and the possible of creating other bulding such as bridges. In addition, the relationship between Palean people and citizens of Lithos is not fully explained and also the level of technology generated in this
