Some say outsourcing is not right and needs to come to an end, but others disagree. In the long run outsourcing helps the American economy and gives people in less developed countries, also known as LDCs more job opportunities. Outsourcing affects the world around us, and it affects different countries and peoples differently. Outsourcing began between the 1950’s and 1960’s because businesses always wanted to know how to exploit their competitive advantage. The IT companies use outsourcing the most and there is a big tech company in Bangalore, India. This caused more job opportunities and helped improve the Indian economy. The number of job losses is increasing as outsourcing becomes popular. For example, “Some of the regions pegged for the steepest job losses are also among the most innovative as some low-skilled jobs move away, there’s scope for other jobs.” Therefore because businesses are leaving the area to be located overseas people become unemployed and as outsourcing becomes increasingly popular as more people are becoming unemployed in the MDCs. Also Pearlstein believes that in the long run outsourcing will not be the answer and there will be many people without jobs. He states, “Outsourcing can lead to long term structural unemployment in the U.S.” Moreover a lot of Americans will be out of jobs because all of the businesses will be located overseas. So outsourcing is costing people their job and is increasing job competition in the …show more content…
They work the same hours, sometimes maybe more with less pay and they do not get paid overtime. Research proved that outsourced workers get paid 15% less than the lowest paid workers on the union. Therefore they do the same work but are getting paid the amount that they do not deserve, they deserve more and it is unfair. Also businesses pay their workers who are just starting lower than what they deserve and they do the same job as the others and people say that is not right and they do not really explain things so the workers do not fully understand what they are getting into. Moreover they are being paid less because they do not know any better or they just need to work to provide for themselves and family. To conclude outsourced workers are paid unfairly and they are being used and it is not right.
Outsourcing is not a perfect idea for businesses but then again nothing is perfect. Outsourcing is creating jobs in LDCs but is increasing the number of unemployed people in MDCs. The government is trying to fix the problems with outsourcing by trying to create more jobs in MDCs as businesses move away. Outsourcing creates more opportunities for lesser developed countries and helps allows them to become innovative and can maybe in the future prevent brain drain because of all the things they will be exposed to due to

Instead, they are forced to work overtime to just make over $2 by a week. Offshoring of U.S businesses may seem an advantage to them because they can easily get a job, but the working conditions are inhumane. The conditions are inhumane because they work for cheap wages, work over 65 hours a week, do not receive health benefits or insurance, neglected by supervisors, and the work environment is unsafe. If a company preferred to relocate to other countries, the employees should at least to earn more or at least be provided health benefits. Outsourcing may make the product cheaper but, that doesn’t make anything better when the factory workers are laid off because all of the work they were doing got shipped overseas. Outsourcing is alright to a point but there needs to be limits on how much each company relies on other countries for products. There needs to be a balance to where there is enough production in the U.S. so Americans can still survive. When a country is going through a recession, business and companies stop making money, and might have to cut down on labor costs. When this happens people are out in the job market. In addition, unemployment compensation is another major cause of unemployment because it can make the people receiving unemployment wages too lazy and comfortable that they stop searching for jobs. I believe that Immigration is bad, and that we should not let foreigners into our country that we have fought for. America is a land of opportunity, but if there is no control over immigration it will no longer be the land of opportunity (“Are Immigrants Bad?”) I think that immigration is bad for this country. I believe it is bad for this country because of what the text said. America has over a million legal immigrants a year, with a majority of them looking for scarce job opportunities, battling the americans. The result of this is a wage depression (“More Immigration is bad.”) Wage depression is when more people get jobs, and the wage goes down because there are more people that have to get paid.…

Trade does, from time to time, create losers and, unfortunately, there is no way of protecting them. When a company relocates its plants to another country, as mentioned above, it costs many people their livelihoods. Protecting these jobs, however important and morally correct it may be, will stunt economic growth in the long run. If a factory is not relocated for the sake of saving jobs, it no longer has the ability to produce more at a cheaper rate. The economy is no longer growing, it is stuck in the same place it was when the company started.…

Another bog reason for unemployment is when the consumer demand for certain products goes so low that the company is not making any profit, hence they have to lay off workers in order to not loosing money for their company. From the idea of technology comes to play, why pay individuals the minimum wage when an electrical machine can do that job. When companies get to that mindset they start to lay off more and more people and let the machine do the job of the people in order to gain a better profit. Patrick, McGeehan on his article "Uncertainty for Workers Losing Jobs at Atlantic City Casinos” in New York Times mentions that casino in New Atlantic city is one of the major job sources for citizens living around the area.…

Young workers trying to break into the job market will find it more difficult obtaining employment. This also affects adults with little job experience or little to no job skills. Companies who are now required to pay employees a higher wage will try to hire the most capable workers for that specific job. The idea is that job requirements will become fiercer as companies will try to get the most out of their investments. “When the population is divided on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, education, and marital status, we find that subgroups with more low-wage workers in 1989 experience larger declines in employment following the increase in the federal minimum” (American Economic Review, 1995).…

With the federal minimum wage in mind, they will just continue to search for a job that gives them the minimum wage not knowing that many small business or shops can’t afford to pay that amount. Large business requires a degree and experiences to earn a salary that might be enough to pay for the cost of living. Raising the minimum will just make the situation worse for the people who really need the money. The rich will continue to find ways to cut down on paying their workers. Some employers might just fire the old employee that earns a high salary and replace them with a young college intern who is willing to earn less.…
