The biggest part in the story that jealousy is shown is in the ending, mainly because this is were Othello kills his wife because of Iago 's trickery. The Author states "just a minute!-shes dead now.-Emilia 's probably come to tell me that Cassio 's been killed." 5.2.104-105. As you can see in this part of the text Othello is in the middle of killing his wife, he is killing his wife because of the evil brainwash that Iago has put him through, creating a vision in Othello 's mind that Desdemona is cheating on him with Cassio. In the beginning of the play Iago shows jealousy because he has a yen for Cassio 's spot, thus causing everything in the play to unravel. Shakespeare writes "Rouse him. Make after him, poison his delight, Proclaim him in the streets. Incense her kinsmen, and, though he in a fertile climate dwell, Plague him with lies. Though that his joy be joy Yet throw such changes of vexation ont as It may lose some color." 1.1.7075. One could infer that Iago is extremely jealous of Cassio because of this jealousy he wants to ruin Cassio 's life as much as possible and ruin Othello life at the same time for not making him in the higher political status. This is shown to be a weapon of destruction in the play Othello and in today world due to the fact that one can not feel happy for another. In Othello Iago did not obtain what he wanted so he went on to being the reason of Desdemona death and Othello 's suicide.We saw it when Othello wanted Cassio dead because he thought he was having an affair with Desdemona. We see this in our own world, be it at our own school or home with sibling or even with friends. Some people take this jealousy they have too far like Iago and end up getting people killed because of it. This proves the fact that Jealousy at a mans heart can be the one thing the destroys his world. One can learn that its not the end of the world if you don’t get something you want, that’s life, you don’t get everything you want but instead of over reacting or doing something that you will regret you can move on or learn from your experiences.
