What’s worse than being alone? The feeling of being lonely is taking over many of us in our modern society. Mother Teresa said once “Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty”. She is trying to convey that feeling or being lonely is the worst feeling there is. Being in the state of isolation can be difficult . It can be depressing. You feel like you don’t have anyone and you're alone in everything. George and Lennie They are together during the whole book but with the tragedy at the end of the novel , George stays alone. He is going to have to fulfil his dream being solitary. What is the point of having all you can dream of and to live the life during the Great Depression, but yet you are alone? In the novella, Of Mice and Men many character show that they feel alone . Both characters, Curley’s wife and Crooks interact differently. Curley’s wife was known for trouble . She was rude to almost everyone in the ranch. She also acts flirty with all the guys because that’s how she will get attention.I believe she’s rude to them because she didn’t have no one she can admire and talk to . She is old enough to process things but still being lonely might affect her and no one really cares for her so she thinks she can do anything and no one will say or do anything. She states “"Seems like they ain't none of them cares how I gotta live” (Steinbeck.00). On the other hand Crooks interacts with the people differently. He has been through a lot . Whenever someone tells him anything he will accept and not talk back or anything . When Curley’s says the rude comment to him he just stays calm and he doesn’t snap back at her . It did hurt him for what she said. Crooks responds and acts a certain way after that harsh statement. All he responded with is him saying “Yes ma’am”
