Components: Components are all the parts that make up a computer. Components include software and hardware.
Proxy server: A proxy server is basically an server that bridges the gap between you and the internet. When you have proxy up and running the other computers from the internet cannot see your IP address so it covers you in something known as an internet camouflage. The computers can only see the proxy's IP. Another use of proxy servers is to access sites that are not usually available to you. For example if a site was blocked in a specific country and someone from that country wanted to access the blocked site, they could use a proxy server. The router takes information from the modem and moves it to the computer. You don’t need to have a router but they are very useful as they allow you to take data from multiple networks and then send that data to multiple computers therefore allowing more than one person to use the internet at the same time using the same connection.
Web server: A web server is a computer that stores all the information needed to display a website. This will include things such as images, files, scripts and pages that make up the website. Once there is an access to the site the browser will get the data from the web server. The web server will then use HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) and send the data to your browser. The browser then converts the html and displays the website.
Mail server: A mail server is a computer that stores electronic mail also known as emails. When someone wants to open an email the computer contacts the mail server which then sends the email to them. When someone sends an email it is stored on the mail server and then is sent to the sender so they can receive and view the
