Non-Unionized Hospitals: A Case Study

I have experience working in both unionized and non-unionized hospitals as an RN and have first-hand knowledge to the pro’s and con’s of both. Unions date back to the 1880’s where working conditions were deplorable, dangerous, and without much financial or position stability (Goldsteen, Goldsteen, & Dwelle, 2015). Workers banded together represented by fearless leaders to ensure safe conditions and job security in the workplace. Unions have guidelines that organizations must follow in order to be in compliance with both federal labor laws and union by-laws.
The argument made by union supporters is the protection provided to unionized workers as an employee. Recently, the union at the hospital where I am employed threatened to strike in hopes
