We can see Huck’s nature thoughts from his tone that acts surprising: eat and survive before everyone else, eat whenever, and eat whatever he liked. These nature actions sound very rude and unhealthy, but it is a different time from now compared to the past. In his era, these ideas saved people from hunger and kept them away from death. Therefore, civilization gives useless ideas and useless actions to Huck, but nature gives Huck hope, which is the way and the thoughts of eager to survival. Nature also refreshed his mind to this world. He has a very different views to this world and the lives around him. “The stars were shining and the leaves rustled in the woods over so mournful; and I heard an owl, away ff who hooing about somebody that was dead, and a whippoorwill and a dog crying about somebody that was going to die,” (pg 3) This shows nature isn’t a big blank to him, he seems to think of the animals as his friends. He was more closer to the animals than other men that treat the animals as food and harmful beasts. Therefore, Huck has a kind and pure heart; a heart that some people still don’t have through this day.
