They believe that the new territories admitted to the united states should allow the people to vote whether or not it will become a free state or a slave state. The people were also allowed to settle into these new territories with equal rights as other states. This means that there property and all of their entitlement as citizens are protected by the federal government. One of the people's right is that they should not be deprived of their property which includes slave.
